sif pfd calculations defining diagnostics

The third webinar in our SIS Mastery series is dedicated to one of the most important inputs used in Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) PFD calculations: diagnostics.

Including diagnostics in your SIF PFD calculations can positively impact the calculated PFD outcomes of your SIF equipment. However, there are important rules and prerequisites that determine when diagnostic credit can be claimed and when it cannot. Understanding these requirements is essential for producing realistic, compliant, and defensible SIF calculations.

During this webinar, led by Cenosco’s SIS domain expert Pieter Poldervaart, we will explore when diagnostics should be included in your SIF PFD calculations and when they should not. We will also provide practical guidance on quantifying the Diagnostic Coverage Factor (DCF) and discuss how diagnostics are handled in both SIS design projects and day-to-day SIF operations and maintenance activities.

Through clear explanations and real-life examples, attendees will gain valuable insight into diagnostics, DCF, and their role in improving the reliability and performance of Safety Instrumented Systems.

Why should you attend?

The ‘SIF PFD Calculations: Defining Diagnostics’ webinar will help you understand the practical application of diagnostics within SIF calculations, provide guidance on quantifying Diagnostic Coverage Factor, and explain the conditions under which diagnostics can legitimately contribute to risk reduction. By combining theory with real-world examples, the session will equip you with knowledge that can be applied to every SIS design project and to everyday SIF site operation and maintenance immediately.
