NAM: Ease of Auditability and Asset Integrity with IMS PEI

NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij) is a Dutch natural gas extraction company that has a Type B inspection body.This inspection body is the responsible authority for the integrity of the pressure vessel inspection. ISO 17020: 2012 expects such inspection bodies to perform inspections to ensure that the inspection management system documentation, as well as the control of records, review, internal audit, and thereof consistently meets the international standard.

Historically, the inspection documentation for the recertification process of this Type B inspection body at NAM involved paper checklists, wet stamps, and an extensive paper trail, which added complexity to the entire process. It involved several hours of preparatory work for the accreditation. Compiling and providing the requisite audit documentation to the certifying authority was a daunting task.

After implementing Cenosco’s IMS PEI software for Pressure Equipment Integrity, NAM revolutionized its management system completely and integrated most of it within the IMS Platform. Ultimately reducing the hours of preparatory work for accreditation tremendously and improving collaboration between internal teams. Furthermore, it allowed for fully remote work, protecting the health and safety of the employees during the pandemic.

The Dynamic Form feature of IMS Suite helped NAM create a customized digital checklist in collaboration with Cenosco. It ensured that the information recorded complied with ISO 17020:2012 requirements of consistent inspection records, allow control of records, carry out internal audits as well as independent review by external certifying bodies. The equipment condition history (ECH) checklist has different levels of approval based on competency, and it considers the local regulatory requirement, giving the Type B inspection body the authority to declare the conformity of the pressure equipment as per NAM, and legislative requirements as a competent representative.

Furthermore, the benefit of IMS PEI software’s auditability and traceability of records provided NAM the confidence in the independent evaluation and validation of their operations’ integrity.
